Join the Knight Commission on Trust, Media and Democracy on October 12th at the New York Public Library as they hear from community members, researchers and industry leaders on potential causes for the erosion in trust and as they explore new thinking about citizenry and the role of the information ecosystem as necessary to rebuild trust.

Trust in the media is at an all-time low. The following panel explores issues related to the growing distrust of citizens and the media. What continues to be the perennial issues and what are emergent factors?

11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Panel II. Journalism and the Internet

The debate over the impact of the Internet on the field of journalism continues to evolve. Decades later and issues – from a disrupted business ecosystem to “fake news” to freedom of speech – persist and undermine the field’s integrity. The following session explores both long-standing and emerging concerns as it relates to society’s growing mistrust of the media and the role of Internet.
